LIP 350 Universal Mortar

LIP 350 is a cement-based, fibre-reinforced bonding and felting mortar with special additives that improve adhesion on difficult substrates and increase workability.

◗    CE: ETAG004
◗    For indoor and outdoor use.
◗    For structure finish and felting.
◗    For ceramic tiles and smooth substrates.
◗    As a thin-layer plaster on concrete and masonry of smooth machine-made bricks.
◗    As a thin-layer plaster on footings with or without reinforcement mesh.
◗    Thickness 1-5 mm

Applications:
As plaster on masonry, concrete, aerated concrete, cementitious plaster and smooth surfaces, plasterboard panels, wood-chip panels, etc.
Recommended for use with glass-fibre reinforcement mesh on substrates that may form cracks.

Preparations:
The substrate can be dry or damp but must be firm, load-bearing and free of stripping agents.
Old paint, oil, wax, and remains of plaster and lime must be removed before application.
Before applying the mortar any grease must be removed with LIP Deep Cleaner in the ratio 1:10.
Can be used on e.g. plasterboard panels, wood-chip panels, aerated concrete, etc. First prime these with LIP Primer in the ratio 1:3.
Moisten absorbent substrates outdoors before applying the mortar.
Recommended for making brick patterns on concrete, plaster or the above mentioned boards.
LIP 350 can be used for filling deep joints by adding 8 kg of oven-dried quartz sand size 0.5-2 mm per 25 kg. This is especially recommended if there is still old paint in the joints after the masonry has been cleaned and enhanced adhesion must be ensured. Afterwards apply a layer of LIP 350 without adding sand.
Always perform an adhesion test before applying the mortar.

The temperature must be minimum + 5 ºC - also in the substrate. At low temperatures it is recommended to cover the work area and possible heat it.

Mixing:
Thoroughly stir LIP 350 into clean, cold water till the mixture is a lump free and smooth paste. Leave for minimum 5 minutes and stir again. In one operation apply a layer of 1-5 mm of LIP 350 using a trowel or mechanical bead. Once the mortar is hard, it may be rubbed down or a final coat render applied. If you want a decorative finish, LIP 350 can finally be felted to obtain the desired effect.
LIP 350 can be used indoors and outdoors at temperatures above 5 °C. Avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight, or draughts etc. so it does not set too quickly.

Overlay:
Once set, LIP 350 can be painted with paint for cement-bound substrates. How long it takes to set completely depends on layer thickness, temperature, weather conditions and moisture content of the substrate. Painting on damp substrates may cause lime deposit. Follow the paint producer's instructions for painting cement-bound substrates.
